Sen. Cruz: May We Never Forget the Evil Defeated 70 Years Ago

Commemorates Auschwitz camp liberation

January 27, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, today issued the following statement commemorating the 70th anniversary of Allied forces freeing the survivors of Auschwitz:

"Seventy years ago, Allied forces liberated the concentration camp in Auschwitz, Poland. 7,000 survivors were mercifully freed. Some 1.3 million souls, however, did not emerge from those cursed gates. They were victims of the systematic torture, abuse and murder that characterized the genocidal Nazi project that attempted to eradicate the Jews.

"Seventy years ago, a great evil was beaten back, and the remarkable success of the Jewish people to establish their own flourishing, democratic state stands as the quintessential testimony to this victory. But as recent events so starkly remind us, the evil of anti-Semitism may have been defeated at Auschwitz but it was not eradicated. ‘Never again' and ‘never forget' must be more than catch-phrases today, they must be a call to action to continue the fight against this particularly insidious and vicious bigotry in our own time."

The IRS may have inadvertently figured out how to win its legal battles against aggrieved tea party groups

The IRS may have inadvertently figured out how to win its legal battles against aggrieved tea party groups: Give them what they wanted in the first place — tax-exempt status.
That was a major reason a Republican-appointed federal judge on Thursday threw out two lawsuits brought by more than 40 conservative groups seeking remedies for being singled out in the tea party targeting scandal, a victory for the IRS.
Judge Reggie Walton of the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia dismissed almost all counts brought against the tax-collecting agency in two cases, ruling that both were essentially moot now that the IRS granted the groups their tax-exempt status that had been held up for years.

Letter to the Beacon from our own Hans Slade, Tea Party member

If one chooses to write tirades against people or organizations there should be facts and solutions to support opinion. Words like "hate mongering, cancer, racism, anarcism, right wing know nothings and ku klux klan lose all impact when no examples are expressed or exist.

The liberal press has worked overtime spewing hate and misinformation to discredit the Tea Party movement. All these negative accusations have been proven lies but some people choose to not believe the retractions.

The Tea Party Patriots demand that elected officials abide by the Constitution, work to decrease the size and scope of today's overgrown big government. If they do not, we promise to work to vote them out of office. The Tea Party has no Generals and we have no political ties. We are a growing block of informed and concerned vorters and that is the very thing that has made us so effective across the country.

Sadly people on the other side of the Tea Party fence may be trying to protect their government dole, joining the less than 20 percent of citizens that approve of our dangerously inept state legislators and Congress of the United States.

"Chinese Professor" breaks it down for you

In case you are satire-proof, this is, indeed, satire. But how much truth is there in this interesting dramatization?

Extremism in defense of liberty isn't necessarily a vice.

"the tea partiers, who may not all agree on gay marriage or birthright citizenship, are united behind a couple of sound goals: curtailing the cost of government and refusing to live at the expense of future generations."

Tea Party Rescues America!

Former Clinton man praises Tea Party...

"For a decade, the left owned the streets. Subsidized by George Soros and energized by the Bill Clinton impeachment in the '90s and the Iraq war since, it dominated the Internet and grass-roots campaigning. Michael Moore's movies -- however misguided -- enthused their ranks and catalyzed their efforts. ACORN worked to commit massive voter fraud in the guise of stimulating voter turnout, and the New Black Panthers worked to intimidate those with whom they disagreed. President Barack Obama was the result.

Now, finally, conservatives are answering with their own grass-roots efforts in the tea party movement. Tea party activists are bringing the battle to stop big government spending and taxes to the streets and parks of America. And its working! The tea party movement, working closely with Americans for Prosperity, mobilized people against the Obamacare proposal and, in the end, will cost the Democrats their congressional majorities -- a fitting price for defying the will of the people."
